The Twenty-Fourth Sunday after Pentecost
I wish to thank most sincerely all those who made last Sunday such a joyous and happy parish celebration on the occasion of the observance of my thirty-fifth anniversary of ordination. So many worked so diligently to make the mass so beautiful with our visiting priests, deacons and religious sisters and brothers. The Reception was a wonderful feast and all of us enjoyed the unlimited trips to the Mr. Softie Truck. I am grateful to all who worked so diligently on this and who so generously provided the Feast for us all. May God reward and bless them in time and eternity.
As we go to print the Gala has not yet occurred, but I am so grateful that we have broken the record in ticket sales. Next week I will write more about these events and thank and recognize so many.
Today our eighth graders will be inscribed to make Confirmation at the 9.30AM Mass and there will be a coffee klatch for all parishioners after the 9.30 AM Mass. Also, today the Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion will be making their recommitment at all the Masses. May God reward their service.
As everyone is aware, Election Day is soon approaching. This is an historic election. While the priests never tell anyone for whom to vote, I must once again remind us all of the truth that is of paramount importance. There is no more important issue than that of Life. Thus it is a moot point to speak of protecting children when infants may be killed in (and even outside) their mothers’ womb. We must stand always for Life.
Printed in the bulletin is a letter from the Bishop so I need not say anything more. Remember, the Bishop teaches us as the successor to the Apostles and we do well to heed his words. Please read the letter and make your decision for all offices in God’s eyes.
In Jesus and Mary,
Monsignor James F. Pereda
