COME HOLY SPIRIT
PENTECOST: Today we celebrate the glorious Solemnity of Pentecost which brings the Easter mystery to a glorious finale. The Holy Spirit is poured forth upon the earth
O Heavenly King, Comforter, Spirit of Truth:
You are everywhere present and fill all things.
Treasury of Blessings and Giver of Life, come and dwell within us,
Cleanse us of all stain, and save our souls,
O Gracious Lord!
The first Book of the Holy Bible tells us of the origin of the different languages of the human race. In their pride the ancients built the Tower of Babel as if to show they were greater than God Himself. God Our Lord scatters the proud in the imagination of their hearts and Himself came down from heaven to confuse their tongues. The very opposite occurs at Pentecost when God the Holy Spirit distributed the tongues of fire and called all men to unity of speech. Therefore, today with one voice let us praise God the Holy Spirit.
CORPUS CHRISTI SUNDAY: Sunday June 23rd is Corpus Christi Sunday. After the 11.00AM Mass we will have the Procession with the Blessed Eucharist (outside, weather permitting). All the First Communion Children are invited to come to Mass and be in the procession wearing their Communion outfits. Please make every effort to attend this which will be so pleasing to God.
SAVE THE DATE: Please save the date of Sunday October 27, 2019. Bishop Barres will come to St. Paul’s to rededicate our newly renovated Church at the 11.00AM Mass. Interestingly, the Parish Church Dedication Dinner Dance was held October 27, 1967. Fifty-two years later we have a rededication. (With God there are no accidents). This will be the Sunday after our Annual Gala Casino Night.
The Gala Dinner Casino Night will be on the evening of Thursday October 24th. This is always a most enjoyable evening to which all our parishioners always look forward. Please make every effort to attend as this will be the celebration dinner for the Church rededication. As usual, the M&M Twins (my dear friends Michael and Marco) will provide the entertainment.
Our Parish Picnic will be on Sunday September 8, 2019. At the suggestion of the Pastoral Council we will have the picnic on a Sunday this year immediately after the 11.00AM Mass. This will allow for more time to be spent in one another’s company. Many have suggested this for several years and many other parishes have their picnic on a Sunday. It will not hurt for us to try it this year and we can make a judgement as to what is better for our parishioners, Saturday evening or Sunday afternoon.
Please remember that our church renovation is not yet completed. The memorial signs with donors of both the original building and the new donors will be placed in the narthex. A children’s area will be added (which will be quite magnificent). The Tree of Life will be placed in the narthex. New lighting will be installed as well as the marble baptismal font. Two new statues are on their way: St. Jude and St. Francis. We still have many more memorials (St. Peter, St. Francis, hanging sanctuary lamps, etc.). If you have not given anything to the Church renovation, please consider becoming part of the history of the parish which will uplift us and generations to come. May I ask you to be patient as all these finishing works are completed. Chi va piano, va sano e lontano. (One who goes slowly, goes peacefully and far).

Come Holy Spirit, Creator, Come
From thy bright heavenly throne!
Come, take possession of our souls,
And make them all thine own!
In Jesus and Mary,
Monsignor James F. Pereda
